History

The city of Bondurant was founded in 1881 by William Bondurant, a Civil War veteran. The city was named after him. The city was incorporated in 1891.

The city is home to several large agricultural companies, including Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., a leading seed and biotechnology company. The city is also home to several manufacturing companies, including Bondurant Manufacturing, Inc., a manufacturer of agricultural equipment.

As of the census of 2010, there were 3,860 people, 1,521 households, and 1,039 families residing in the city. The population density was 919.0 people per square mile (354.3/km2).
