History

The area that is now Springdale was first settled in the late 1700s by a group of settlers from North Carolina. The town was originally known as “Springdale Crossroads”, and was located at the intersection of two major roads. The town was officially incorporated in 1891, and was named after the nearby spring.

Springdale is located at 34°55'25" North, 82°14'17" West (34.923862, -82.238118). The town has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The town is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and is surrounded by rolling hills and forests.
