Shevlin Summary

Shevlin is a small city located in Clearwater County, Minnesota. It is situated on the banks of the Red Lake River, approximately 10 miles south of Bemidji. The city has a population of approximately 500 people and is part of the Bemidji Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Shevlin was founded in 1887 by a group of settlers from Norway. The settlers named the town after their hometown of Shevlin, Norway. The town was originally a logging and farming community, and the first post office was established in 1891.
In the early 1900s, Shevlin began to grow and develop. The town was incorporated in 1909 and the first school was built in 1910. The town also had a sawmill, a creamery, a general store, and a hotel.
