Hallock Summary

Hallock is a city located in Kittson County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,303 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kittson County.

History

Hallock was founded in 1879 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The city was named after the Hallock family, who were early settlers in the area. The first post office was established in 1879. The city was incorporated in 1881.

Hallock is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 75 and Minnesota State Highway 11. It is situated on the banks of the Red River of the North. The city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of it land.

Economy

Hallock is the economic center of Kittson County. The city is home to several businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a bank, a pharmacy, and a variety of restaurants. The city also has a hospital, a nursing home, and a library.
The city is also home to the Kittson County Fair, which is held annually in August. The fair features a variety of events, including a rodeo, a demolition derby, and a carnival.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,303 people, 545 households, and 339 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,077.5 people per square mile.
