Biscoe is a small town located in Montgomery County, North Carolina. It is situated in the Uwharrie Mountains, about 25 miles east of Asheboro. The town was founded in 1887 and named after William Biscoe, a local landowner. The population of Biscoe was 1,845 as of the 2010 census.

Geography

Biscoe is located at 35°25'25"N 79°51'45"W (35.423, -79.862). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
The town is located in the Uwharrie Mountains, which are part of the Appalachian Mountains. The Uwharrie Mountains are the oldest mountain range in North America, and are home to a variety of wildlife, including black bears, deer, and wild turkeys.

The economy of Biscoe is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms, including the Biscoe Family Farm, which produces a variety of fruits and vegetables. The town is also home to several small businesses, including a hardware store, a grocery store, and a restaurant.

The racial makeup of the town was 79.2% White, 17.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.3% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.2% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 15.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.02.
