St Paul Park Summary
St. Paul Park is a city located in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,279 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
History
St. Paul Park was founded in 1887 by the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. The city was named after the railroad's president, William D. Washburn. The railroad was built to connect St. Paul to the Mississippi River. The city was incorporated in 1897.
In the early 1900s, St. Paul Park was a major industrial center. The city was home to several large factories, including the St. Paul Park Refinery, which was the largest oil refinery in the world at the time. The refinery was built in 1901 and operated until it closed in 1983.
Geography
St. Paul Park is located at 44°53'25" North, 92°51'45" West (44.8906, -92.8625). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all of it land.

St. Paul Park is home to several large businesses, including the St. Paul Park Refinery, which is now owned by Marathon Petroleum Corporation. The refinery is the largest oil refinery in the state of Minnesota. The city is also home to several other businesses, including a large industrial park, a shopping center, and several restaurants.

The racial makeup of the city was 91.2% White, 2.3% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.7% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.3% of the population.
There were 2,093 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.7% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $45,938, and the median income for a family was $54,917. Males had a median income of $40,938 versus $30,917 for females.
