Shoreview Summary

Shoreview is a city located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. It is a northern suburb of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 25,043.

History

The area that is now Shoreview was first settled in the 1850s. The first settlers were mostly German and Swedish immigrants. The area was originally known as Turtle Lake Township, and was incorporated as a village in 1957. The village was renamed Shoreview in 1958, and was incorporated as a city in 1973.

Geography

Shoreview is located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, and is situated on the north shore of Turtle Lake. It is bordered by the cities of Arden Hills to the north, Little Canada to the east, and Roseville to the south. The city has a total area of 11.2 square miles, of which 10.9 square miles is land and 0.3 square miles is water.

Economy

Shoreview is home to several large employers, including Land O’Lakes, Deluxe Corporation, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The city also has a number of small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and professional services.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 25,043 people, 10,093 households, and 6,845 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,288.2 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 87.2% White, 4.7% African American, 0.4% Native American, 4.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.3% from other races, and 2.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.7% of the population.
The median income for a household in the city was $68,945, and the median income for a family was $81,945. The per capita income for the city was $33,945. About 3.2% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.2% of those under age 18 and 4.2% of those age 65 or over.
