Hillman Summary
Hillman, Minnesota is a small city located in Morrison County, in the central part of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, and is part of the Brainerd Lakes Area. The city has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.
History
The area that is now Hillman was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of German immigrants. The town was originally called “New Germany”, and was later renamed Hillman in honor of a local businessman. The town was officially incorporated in 1891.
In the early 1900s, Hillman was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several grain elevators, a creamery, and a cheese factory. The town also had a sawmill, a flour mill, and a brickyard.
In the 1950s, Hillman began to experience a decline in population as many of its residents moved away in search of better economic opportunities. The town’s population has remained relatively stable since then, and is now home to a diverse mix of people from all walks of life.
