History
East Bethel was first settled in the late 1800s by Swedish immigrants. The first post office was established in 1887. The city was incorporated in 1957.

As of the census of 2010, there were 8,110 people, 2,845 households, and 2,092 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,000.3 people per square mile. There were 3,039 housing units at an average density of 375.3 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 94.2% White, 0.9% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.3% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.3% of the population.
There were 2,845 households, out of which 39.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 21.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.30.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 30.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 33.2% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
