History

Corcoran was first settled in 1855 by Irish immigrants. The town was named after the Corcoran family, who were among the first settlers. The town was officially incorporated in 1887.
In the early 1900s, Corcoran was a thriving agricultural community. The town was known for its dairy farms and its production of butter and cheese. The town also had a number of small businesses, including a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a hotel.
In the 1950s, Corcoran began to experience rapid growth as the Twin Cities metropolitan area expanded. The town was annexed by the city of Minneapolis in 1960.
