Clarks Grove is a small city located in Freeborn County, Minnesota. It is situated on the south shore of Albert Lea Lake, about 10 miles south of Albert Lea. The city has a population of 1,072 as of the 2010 census.
History
Clarks Grove was founded in 1856 by William Clark, a settler from New York. He purchased the land from the government and began to build a small village. The village was named after him and was originally called Clarksville. In 1871, the name was changed to Clarks Grove.
The city was incorporated in 1887 and has remained a small, rural community ever since. The city was home to a number of businesses, including a flour mill, a creamery, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.
Geography
Clarks Grove is located at 43°41'25"N 93°17'45"W (43.690278, -93.295833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all of it land.
The city is located on the south shore of Albert Lea Lake, which is part of the Albert Lea Lake State Recreation Area. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and swimming.

The economy of Clarks Grove is largely based on agriculture. The city is home to several farms, including a dairy farm, a hog farm, and a grain farm. The city also has a number of small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,072 people, 441 households, and 287 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,179.2 people per square mile (455.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.2% White, 0.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.3% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.

The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
