Buckman Summary

Buckman is a small city located in Morrison County, Minnesota. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, approximately 25 miles northwest of St. Cloud. The city has a population of approximately 500 people and is part of the Little Falls Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Buckman was first settled in the late 1800s by German immigrants. The city was originally known as “Buckman’s Landing” and was named after the first settler, John Buckman. The city was officially incorporated in 1902.
In the early 1900s, Buckman was a thriving community with a variety of businesses, including a sawmill, a flour mill, a creamery, and a general store. The city also had a post office, a bank, and a hotel.
In the 1950s, the city began to decline as the population shifted to larger cities. The sawmill and flour mill closed, and the creamery and general store were sold. The post office closed in the 1970s.

Geography

Buckman is located in the central part of Morrison County, Minnesota. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, approximately 25 miles northwest of St. Cloud. The city has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land.
The terrain around Buckman is mostly flat, with some rolling hills. The city is located in a temperate climate zone, with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is around 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
