Boyd Summary

Boyd is a small city located in the state of Minnesota, United States. It is situated in the western part of the state, in the county of Stearns. The city has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is part of the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Boyd was first settled in the late 1800s by German immigrants. The city was officially incorporated in 1891, and was named after a local settler, John Boyd. The city was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were wheat, oats, and barley.
In the early 1900s, the city began to grow and develop. The first school was built in 1910, and the first bank opened in 1912. The city also had a post office, a general store, and a blacksmith shop.
In the 1920s, the city began to experience a population boom. This was due to the construction of a railroad line that ran through the city. This allowed for the transportation of goods and people to and from the city.
In the 1950s, the city began to experience a decline in population. This was due to the decline of the railroad industry, as well as the decline of the farming industry. The city was able to survive this decline, however, and has since seen a resurgence in population.
