History

Olmos Park was founded in 1923 by a group of wealthy San Antonio businessmen who wanted to create a residential community with a country club atmosphere. The city was named after the Olmos family, who had owned the land since the late 19th century. The city was incorporated in 1929 and has remained largely unchanged since then.

Geography

Olmos Park is located at 29°27′17″N 98°30′17″W (29.454722, -98.504722). It is situated on the northern edge of San Antonio, just south of the San Antonio River. The city is bordered by Alamo Heights to the north, Terrell Hills to the east, and San Antonio to the south and west.

The racial makeup of the city was 87.2% White, 4.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 4.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.2% from other races, and 2.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.2% of the population.
