East Laurinburg Summary

History

East Laurinburg is a small town located in Scotland County, North Carolina. It is situated on the banks of the Lumber River, and is part of the Laurinburg Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1790 by William McRae, a Scottish immigrant who had settled in the area. The town was originally known as McRae’s Crossroads, and was later renamed Laurinburg in honor of McRae’s hometown in Scotland.
