Perry Summary
Perry is a city located in Box Elder County, Utah, United States. The population was 5,215 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Perry was first settled in 1864 by a group of Mormon pioneers led by William H. Perry. The town was named after William H. Perry, who was the first settler in the area. The town was incorporated in 1891.
Geography
Perry is located at 41°14'25" North, 112°2'17" West (41.240278, -112.038194). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.3 square miles (11.2 km2), all land.
Economy
Perry is home to several businesses, including a Walmart Supercenter, a Home Depot, and a Lowe's Home Improvement store. The city also has a number of restaurants, including a McDonald's, a Burger King, and a Subway.
Demographics
As of the census of 2010, there were 5,215 people, 1,717 households, and 1,400 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,213.3 people per square mile (468.7/km2). There were 1,845 housing units at an average density of 428.3 per square mile (165.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 91.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 5.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.2% of the population.
There were 1,717 households, out of which 44.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% were non-families. 17.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.02 and the average family size was 3.45.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 33.2% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $50,938, and the median income for a family was $54,917. Males had a median income of $41,944 versus $25,917 for females.
