Mona Summary

Mona is a small city located in Juab County, Utah, United States. It is situated in the western part of the state, approximately 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. The population of Mona was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Mona is located at an elevation of 4,890 feet (1,490 m) in the western part of Juab County. It is situated in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains, approximately 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. The city is located on the western edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert, and is bordered by the cities of Nephi to the north, Levan to the east, and Santaquin to the south.
The climate in Mona is semi-arid, with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is 54°F (12°C), and the average annual precipitation is 11.5 inches (29 cm).

Economy

Mona’s economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The city is home to several farms and ranches, and is a popular destination for outdoor recreation. The city is also home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 645 households, and 463 families residing in Mona. The population density was 545.3 people per square mile (210.9/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.2% White, 0.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 3.2% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.2% of the population.
There were 645 households, out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.37.
In Mona, the population was spread out, with 30.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
