Meadow Summary

Meadow is a small town located in the Uintah Basin of northeastern Utah. It is situated in the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation, and is the only incorporated town in the reservation. The town is located in Duchesne County, and is approximately 30 miles east of Duchesne, the county seat. The population of Meadow was estimated to be 545 in 2019.

Geography

Meadow is located in the Uintah Basin of northeastern Utah, at an elevation of 5,845 feet. The town is situated in the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation, and is the only incorporated town in the reservation. The town is located in Duchesne County, and is approximately 30 miles east of Duchesne, the county seat. The town is surrounded by the Uintah Mountains to the east, the Wasatch Mountains to the west, and the Uintah River to the south.
The climate in Meadow is semi-arid, with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is 48°F, with an average high of 79°F in July and an average low of 17°F in January. The average annual precipitation is 11.5 inches, with the majority of the precipitation occurring in the spring and summer months.

Economy

Meadow’s economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The town is home to several farms and ranches, which produce hay, alfalfa, and other crops. The town is also home to several tourist attractions, including the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation Museum, the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation Cultural Center, and the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation Visitor Center.
