Holden is a small town located in the state of Utah, in the United States. The area that is now Holden was first settled in 1859 by a group of Mormon pioneers. The town was originally known as “Mud Springs”, and was later renamed “Holden” in honor of a local pioneer, William Holden. The town was officially incorporated in 1891.

In the 1950s, Holden began to experience a decline in population as many of its residents moved away in search of better economic opportunities. This trend continued into the 1960s and 1970s, and by the 1980s, the town’s population had dropped to just over 200 people.
