History
Rollingwood was founded in the late 1950s by a group of developers who wanted to create a residential community near Austin. The city was incorporated in 1955 and was named after the rolling hills of the area. The city was originally planned as a residential community, but it has since grown to include commercial and industrial businesses.
Geography
Rollingwood is located at 30°17'25" North, 97°47'17" West (30.290278, -97.788333). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

Rollingwood is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The city is also home to several technology companies, including Dell, IBM, and Oracle. The city is also home to the headquarters of the Texas Department of Transportation.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,412 people, 590 households, and 431 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,179.2 people per square mile (455.7/km2). There were 617 housing units at an average density of 514.2 per square mile (198.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 91.45% White, 0.14% African American, 0.14% Native American, 6.20% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 0.71% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.45% of the population.
There were 590 households, out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.7% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 24.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.86.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 22.2% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 32.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
