Pleak Summary

Pleak is a small unincorporated community located in Fort Bend County, Texas. It is situated about 25 miles southwest of Houston and is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The population of Pleak was estimated to be 1,845 in 2019.

History

Pleak was founded in 1883 by German immigrants who had settled in the area. The town was named after the Pleak family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally known as Pleak Station, as it was a stop on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway.
In the early 1900s, Pleak was a thriving agricultural community, with cotton, corn, and other crops being grown in the area. The town also had a cotton gin, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.

Geography

Pleak is located in Fort Bend County, Texas, about 25 miles southwest of Houston. It is situated at the intersection of FM 762 and FM 1464. The town is surrounded by farmland and is located near the Brazos River.
The climate in Pleak is humid subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 70°F (21°C).
