Maypearl Summary

Maypearl is a small town located in Ellis County, Texas, United States. It is situated about 30 miles south of Dallas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The population of Maypearl was 1,068 at the 2010 census.

History

Maypearl was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from Maypearl, Mississippi. The town was named after the original Maypearl, Mississippi, which was named after the Maypearl family who had settled there in the early 1800s. The first post office in Maypearl was established in 1882.
The town was incorporated in 1891 and the first mayor was elected in 1892. The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the 1950s, it had a population of around 500.

Geography

Maypearl is located at 32°30'25" North, 96°51'45" West (32.506944, -96.862500). It is situated in the eastern part of Ellis County, about 30 miles south of Dallas. The town is located on the banks of the Trinity River and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.
The climate in Maypearl is humid subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 68°F (20°C). The average annual precipitation is around 37 inches (94 cm).
