Grey Forest Summary

Grey Forest is a small city located in Bexar County, Texas, United States. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Grey Forest was founded in the early 1900s by German immigrants who were looking for a place to settle and raise their families. The city was named after the grey-colored trees that grew in the area. The first settlers were mostly farmers and ranchers, and the city grew slowly over the years.
In the 1920s, Grey Forest began to attract more people as the city became a popular weekend getaway for San Antonio residents. The city was incorporated in 1929 and the first mayor was elected in 1930.
In the 1940s, Grey Forest began to experience a population boom as more people moved to the area. The city was home to several businesses, including a grocery store, a gas station, and a post office.

Geography

Grey Forest is located at 29°32'25" North, 98°37'17" West (29.540278, -98.621389). The city is situated in the Hill Country region of Texas, about 20 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio.
The terrain of Grey Forest is mostly flat, with some rolling hills. The city is located in the Edwards Plateau, which is characterized by limestone outcroppings and cedar trees. The climate is semi-arid, with hot summers and mild winters.

Economy

The economy of Grey Forest is largely based on tourism and agriculture. The city is home to several wineries, as well as a number of small businesses. The city also has a few restaurants and shops.
