Canyon Creek Summary

Canyon Creek is a small unincorporated community located in the state of Texas, United States. It is situated in the western part of the state, in the county of Collin. The community is located about 25 miles northeast of Dallas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area.

History

The area that is now Canyon Creek was first settled in the late 1800s by a group of settlers from the nearby town of McKinney. The settlers were looking for a place to call home and found the area to be ideal for farming and ranching. The first settlers built a small church and a school, and the community began to grow.
In the early 1900s, the community was officially named Canyon Creek. The name was chosen to reflect the nearby creek that ran through the area. The creek was a popular spot for fishing and swimming, and it was also used to irrigate the local farms.
