Sebree Summary
Sebree is a small town located in Webster County, Kentucky, United States. It is situated along the banks of the Green River and is part of the Owensboro metropolitan area. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census.
History
Sebree was founded in 1854 by William Sebree, a former slave who had purchased his freedom. He named the town after himself and it quickly became a thriving community. The town was incorporated in 1872 and was home to a variety of businesses, including a sawmill, a gristmill, a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a hotel.
In the late 19th century, Sebree was a major stop on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The railroad brought new people and businesses to the area, and the town grew rapidly. By the early 20th century, Sebree had become a bustling center of commerce and industry.
Geography
Sebree is located at 37°25'17" North, 87°25'17" West (37.4214, -87.4214). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.

Sebree's economy is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant. The town is also home to a number of industrial plants, including a paper mill, a plastics plant, and a metal fabrication plant.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.17% White, 0.73% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.55% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
