North Middletown Summary

North Middletown is a small unincorporated community located in Bourbon County, Kentucky. It is situated in the northern part of the county, approximately 10 miles north of Paris, the county seat. The population of North Middletown was estimated to be around 1,000 in 2020.

History

North Middletown was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from Middletown, Connecticut. The town was originally known as Middletown, but the name was changed to North Middletown in 1820 to avoid confusion with the town of Middletown in Mason County.
The town was an important stop on the Lexington and Ohio Railroad, which ran through the area in the mid-1800s. The railroad brought economic growth to the area, and the town soon became a center of commerce and industry.
In the late 1800s, North Middletown was home to several mills, including a flour mill, a sawmill, and a woolen mill. The town also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.
