The area that is now Bloomfield was first settled in the late 1700s by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The town was originally known as “Bloomfield Station” and was established in 1817. In the early 1800s, Bloomfield was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several mills, a distillery, and a tannery. The town also had a post office, a school, and several churches.
In the late 1800s, the town began to decline due to the decline of the agricultural industry. The town was bypassed by the railroad and the population began to decline. By the early 1900s, the town had become a small, quiet community.
