Lobelville Summary

Lobelville is a small town located in Perry County, Tennessee, United States. It is situated along the banks of the Duck River, approximately 50 miles southwest of Nashville. The town was founded in 1820 and named after the Lobel family, who were early settlers in the area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Lobelville was 545.

History

The area that is now Lobelville was first settled in the early 1800s by the Lobel family, who were of German descent. The family had migrated to the area from Pennsylvania and established a homestead along the banks of the Duck River. The town was officially founded in 1820 and named after the Lobel family.
In the early years, Lobelville was a small farming community. The town was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a cotton gin. The town also had a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office.
In the late 1800s, the town began to grow and develop. The railroad arrived in 1887, connecting Lobelville to other towns in the area. This allowed for the transportation of goods and services, and the town began to thrive.
