Erin Summary

Erin, Tennessee is a small city located in Houston County, in the western part of the state. It is situated along the banks of the Tennessee River, and is the county seat of Houston County. The city has a population of approximately 2,500 people, and is part of the Clarksville-Hopkinsville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Erin was founded in 1820 by William and John McEwen, two brothers who had moved to the area from North Carolina. The city was named after the Irish city of Erin, which was the birthplace of the McEwen brothers. The city was incorporated in 1837, and was the first city in Houston County.
