History
Hyde Park was first settled in 1783 by a group of settlers from Massachusetts. The town was named after the Hyde family, who were among the first settlers. The town was officially incorporated in 1796.
In the 19th century, Hyde Park was an agricultural community, with dairy farming being the main industry. The town also had several sawmills, gristmills, and a tannery.
Geography
Hyde Park is located in the Lamoille Valley, in the northern part of Vermont. The town is bordered by Morrisville to the north, Johnson to the east, Cambridge to the south, and Belvidere to the west.
The Lamoille River runs through the town, and there are several small ponds and lakes in the area. The highest point in the town is the summit of Hyde Mountain, which has an elevation of 1,890 feet (576 m).

The racial makeup of the town was 97.2% White, 0.5% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.4% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 717 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $50,000. Males had a median income of $35,000 versus $25,000 for females.
