History
Twin Oaks was first settled in the early 1800s by German immigrants. The community was originally known as "Twin Oaks Settlement" and was located in the area of what is now the intersection of Highway N and Highway K. The settlement was named after two large oak trees that stood near the intersection.
In 1876, the St. Louis and Iron Mountain Railroad was built through the area, connecting Twin Oaks to St. Louis and other nearby towns. This allowed for the growth of the community, and by the early 1900s, Twin Oaks had become a thriving agricultural community.
In the 1950s, the area began to experience rapid growth due to the construction of the nearby St. Charles County Airport. This led to the development of several new subdivisions in the area, and by the year 2000, the population of Twin Oaks had grown to 1,845.
