Tindall Summary
Tindall is a small unincorporated community located in the southeastern corner of Bollinger County, Missouri. It is situated along the banks of the Castor River, approximately five miles south of Marble Hill. The population of Tindall was estimated to be around 200 people in 2020.
History
Tindall was founded in 1883 by William Tindall, a local farmer. He named the town after himself and it quickly grew into a small but thriving community. The town was home to a post office, a general store, a blacksmith shop, a school, and a church. The town was also home to a number of businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, and a cotton gin.
In the early 1900s, the town began to decline as the railroad bypassed it. The post office closed in 1915 and the school closed in the 1930s. By the 1950s, the town had become a virtual ghost town.
Geography
Tindall is located in the southeastern corner of Bollinger County, Missouri. It is situated along the banks of the Castor River, approximately five miles south of Marble Hill. The town is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters.
Economy
Tindall is a small, rural community with a limited economy. The town is home to a few small businesses, including a convenience store, a gas station, and a restaurant. The town is also home to a number of farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and wheat.
