St Martins Summary

St. Martins is a small city located in Osage County, Missouri. It is situated on the banks of the Missouri River, approximately 20 miles west of Jefferson City. The city has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Jefferson City Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

St. Martins was founded in 1837 by a group of German immigrants who were looking for a place to settle and start a new life. The city was named after St. Martin of Tours, a 4th century French saint. The city was originally a farming community, but it soon became a popular destination for riverboat travelers. In the late 19th century, the city was home to a number of businesses, including a hotel, a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a sawmill.
