Oakview Summary

Oakview, Missouri is a small town located in the southeastern corner of the state, just north of the Arkansas border. It is part of the Ozark Mountains region and is situated in the foothills of the Ozarks. The town is located in Howell County and has a population of just over 1,000 people.

History

Oakview was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of West Plains. The town was named after the abundance of oak trees in the area. The first post office was established in 1884 and the town was incorporated in 1887.
