Houston Lake Summary

Lake Houston is a small town located in the state of Missouri, in the United States. It is situated in the northwest corner of the state, near the border with Iowa. The town is located in the Ozark Mountains, and is surrounded by rolling hills and lush forests. The town is home to a population of just over 500 people, and is a popular destination for outdoor recreation.

History

The area around Lake Houston was first settled in the early 1800s by settlers from the United States and Canada. The town was originally known as Houston Lake, and was named after the nearby lake. The lake was named after a local settler, William Houston, who had settled in the area in 1820.
The town was officially incorporated in 1883, and the first post office was established in 1884. The town grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a popular destination for outdoor recreation. The town was also home to a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a sawmill.
