Holt, Missouri is located at 39°17'45"N 94°20'45"W (39.295833, -94.345833). It is situated on the banks of the Missouri River, approximately 20 miles north of Kansas City. The town is located in Clay County, Missouri, and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
The total area of Holt, Missouri is 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The town is located in a flat, open area with no major hills or mountains. The climate is humid continental, with hot summers and cold winters.

History

Holt, Missouri was founded in 1868 by William Holt, who was the first settler in the area. The town was originally known as Holt's Landing, and was a popular stop for steamboats traveling up and down the Missouri River. The town was officially incorporated in 1872.
In the late 19th century, Holt, Missouri was a thriving river port town. It was home to several businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The town also had a post office, a school, and a church.
In the early 20th century, Holt, Missouri began to decline. The steamboat industry was replaced by the railroad, and the town's economy shifted to agriculture. The population of Holt, Missouri peaked in 1920, when it had a population of 1,945.
