Branson West Summary

Branson West is a small town located in Stone County, Missouri, United States. It is situated in the Ozark Mountains, approximately 20 miles west of Branson, Missouri. The town was founded in 1883 and incorporated in 1891. As of the 2010 census, the population of Branson West was 1,220.

History

The area that is now Branson West was originally inhabited by the Osage Indians. The first white settlers arrived in the area in the early 1800s. The town was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Reeds Spring. The town was originally known as "Reed's Spring West" and was later changed to "Branson West" in honor of the nearby town of Branson.
The town was officially incorporated in 1891 and the first post office was established in 1892. The town grew slowly over the years and by the early 1900s, it had become a popular tourist destination. The town was home to several resorts, including the Branson West Hotel, which was built in 1910.

Geography

Branson West is located in Stone County, Missouri, approximately 20 miles west of Branson. The town is situated in the Ozark Mountains and is surrounded by rolling hills and forests. The town is located at an elevation of 1,072 feet above sea level.
