History

Pike County was created in 1822 from parts of Monroe and Upson counties. It was named for General Zebulon Pike, who was killed in the War of 1812. The county was originally part of the Creek Nation, and the area was home to several Native American tribes, including the Creek, Cherokee, and Choctaw.
