Wood Village Summary
Wood Village is a small city located in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. It is located in the Portland metropolitan area and is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,945 at the 2010 census.
History
Wood Village was founded in 1883 by William Wood, who was a pioneer in the area. He purchased the land from the Oregon and California Railroad and began to develop the area. The town was originally called Wood’s Landing, but was later changed to Wood Village.
The town was incorporated in 1951 and has since grown to become a small city. It is home to a variety of businesses, including a shopping center, restaurants, and a movie theater.
Geography
Wood Village is located at 45°33'17" North, 122°35'17" West (45.554722, -122.588333). It is situated in the Tualatin Valley, near the Columbia River. The city is bordered by the cities of Troutdale and Fairview to the north, Gresham to the east, and Portland to the south.
The city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The terrain is mostly flat, with some hills in the northern part of the city.

Wood Village’s economy is largely based on retail and services. The city is home to a variety of businesses, including a shopping center, restaurants, and a movie theater. The city also has a number of industrial and manufacturing businesses.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 2,945 people, 1,093 households, and 745 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,457.3 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 79.2% White, 5.2% African American, 0.7% Native American, 5.2% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 5.2% from other races, and 4.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.2% of the population.
There were 1,093 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 13.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.20.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $45,938, and the median income for a family was $51,964. Males had a median income of $37,917 versus $30,938 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,945. About 8.2% of families and 10.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.2% of those under age 18 and 5.2% of those age 65 or over.
