Imbler Summary

Imbler is a small city located in Union County, Oregon, United States. It is situated in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, about 20 miles east of La Grande. The population was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

Imbler was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the Midwest. The town was named after the Imbler family, who were among the first settlers. The Imbler family had a large farm in the area and the town was built around it.
The first post office was established in 1884 and the town was incorporated in 1891. The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the early 1900s it had become a thriving agricultural community.
The town was also home to a number of businesses, including a sawmill, a flour mill, a creamery, a blacksmith shop, and a general store. The town also had a school, a church, and a hotel.

Geography

Imbler is located at an elevation of 2,845 feet (867 m) in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The city is situated on the banks of the Grande Ronde River, which flows through the city.
The city is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, and is located about 20 miles east of La Grande. The nearest major city is Pendleton, which is about 50 miles to the south.

Imbler’s economy is largely based on agriculture. The city is home to several farms, which produce a variety of crops, including wheat, barley, oats, hay, and potatoes.

There were 212 households, out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
