Gopher Flats Summary

Gopher Flats is a small unincorporated community located in the high desert of Central Oregon, in the United States. It is situated in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, approximately 20 miles east of Bend, Oregon. The area is known for its wide open spaces, stunning views, and abundant wildlife.

History

Gopher Flats was first settled in the late 1800s by homesteaders who were drawn to the area by its abundant natural resources. The area was originally known as “Gopher Valley”, and the name was later changed to Gopher Flats. The first post office was established in the area in 1891, and the town was officially incorporated in 1903.
