Flemington Summary

Flemington, Georgia is a small town located in Liberty County, Georgia. It is situated on the banks of the Altamaha River, approximately 30 miles south of Savannah and 25 miles north of Brunswick. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Hinesville-Fort Stewart Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The area that is now Flemington was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from North Carolina. The town was originally known as “Fleming’s Landing”, named after the first settler, William Fleming. The town was officially incorporated in 1854 and was named after the Fleming family.
