Yale Summary
Yale is a small town located in the southeastern corner of South Dakota, in the United States. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, in the Missouri River Valley, and is part of the Sioux Falls metropolitan area. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is the county seat of Clay County.
History
Yale was founded in 1881, when the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (the Milwaukee Road) was built through the area. The town was named after Yale University, and was incorporated in 1883. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were wheat, corn, and oats.
