Stickney is a small town located in the southeastern corner of South Dakota, in the United States. It is situated in the extreme southeastern corner of the state, just north of the Nebraska border. History

Stickney was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from Wisconsin. The town was named after the Stickney family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally located in the Dakota Territory, and was incorporated in 1887.
Stickney was a small farming community for much of its history. In the early 1900s, the town was home to a number of businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a general store, and a lumberyard. The town also had a post office, which was established in 1887.
In the late 1950s, Stickney began to experience a population decline, as many of its residents moved away in search of better economic opportunities. This trend continued into the 1960s and 1970s, and by the 1980s, the population of Stickney had dropped to just over 500.

Stickney is located at 43°25'N 96°45'W (43.4167, -96.7500). The town is situated in the extreme southeastern corner of South Dakota, just north of the Nebraska border. It is located in Turner County, and is part of the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The town is situated on the banks of the Big Sioux River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The nearest major city is Sioux Falls, which is located about 25 miles to the northwest.

Stickney is a small, rural community, and its economy is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to a number of farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and wheat.
