Edgemont is located in the Black Hills region of South Dakota, and is surrounded by the Badlands National Park, the Black Hills National Forest, and the Buffalo Gap National Grassland. The town is situated at an elevation of 4,000 feet, and is located at the intersection of US Highway 18 and South Dakota Highway 79. The town is located in a valley surrounded by hills and mountains, and is known for its scenic beauty.

Economy

Edgemont’s economy is largely based on tourism, as the town is located near several popular attractions, including the Badlands National Park, the Black Hills National Forest, and the Buffalo Gap National Grassland. The town is also home to several businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a gas station, and several restaurants.

As of the 2010 census, the population of Edgemont was 1,521.
