Aurora Summary

Aurora, South Dakota is a small town located in the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated in the Missouri River Valley, and is surrounded by rolling hills and prairies. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is the county seat of Miner County.

History

Aurora was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Howard. The town was named after Aurora, the Roman goddess of the dawn. The settlers were attracted to the area due to its fertile soil and abundant natural resources. The town quickly grew, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving agricultural center.
In the early 20th century, Aurora was a bustling town with a variety of businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a newspaper, and a variety of stores. The town also had a school, a library, and a post office.
