History
Folsom was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from Texas. The town was named after the nearby Folsom Lake, which was named after the Folsom family, who were early settlers in the area. The town quickly grew, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving agricultural and ranching center.
In the early 1900s, the town was home to several businesses, including a hotel, a bank, a general store, and a post office. The town also had a school, a church, and a newspaper. In the 1920s, the town was home to a movie theater, a bowling alley, and a dance hall.
In the 1950s, the town began to decline, as many of the businesses closed and the population began to decline. In the 1970s, the town was revitalized with the construction of the Folsom Lake State Park. The park brought in many tourists, and the town began to grow again. Today, Folsom is a small, quiet town, with a population of just over 500.
