Tipton, Kansas is a small town located in the north-central part of the state, in Mitchell County. It is situated on the banks of the Solomon River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town was founded in 1872, and has a population of just over 500 people.
History
Tipton was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after Tipton County, Ohio, where many of the settlers had come from. The town was originally a farming community, and the settlers quickly established a post office, a school, and a church.
In the late 19th century, Tipton began to grow and prosper. The town was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel. The town also had a newspaper, the Tipton Times, which was published from 1883 to 1895.
