Grandview Plaza Summary

Grandview Plaza is a city located in Geary County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Manhattan, Kansas Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Grandview Plaza was founded in 1887 by the Grandview Town Company. The town was named for its view of the nearby Grandview Park. The first post office in Grandview Plaza was established in 1887.

Geography

Grandview Plaza is located at 39°7'17" North, 96°37'17" West (39.121400, -96.621400). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,619.2 people per square mile (1,011.2/km2). There were 790 housing units at an average density of 1,125.2 per square mile (433.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.2% White, 0.3% African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.3% from other races, and 1.2% from two or more races. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 26.3% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.7 males.
