Dagsboro is a small town located in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. It is situated on the Indian River Bay, about 10 miles (16 km) south of the state capital, Dover. The population was 1,008 at the 2010 census.

History

Dagsboro was first settled in the late 17th century by English colonists. The town was originally known as Indian River Bridge, and was renamed Dagsboro in 1883 after the Dag family, who had been among the earliest settlers in the area.
The town was incorporated in 1891. In the early 20th century, Dagsboro was a popular summer resort destination, with many visitors coming to enjoy the beaches and fishing.

Geography

Dagsboro is located at 38°33'25" North, 75°17'45" West (38.556944, -75.295833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.88.
